Matt Continues His Fight for the Arthritis Foundation on Week 3 of The New Celebrity Apprentice
This week kicked off with a challenge to create a photo advertising campaign for Kawasaki USA. The Kawasaki execs wanted the teams to push the boundaries with this campaign, and Carson Kressley took the lead as project manager of Team Arete, with Kyle Richards taking the helm for Team Prima.
Team Arete took pushing the limits literally - showing the motorcycle with unconventional riders, breaking the stereotypes and norms of what a motorcycle rider looks like. Team Prima focused on portrayals of strong women - from stature to attitude, the focus was on women feeling empowered.
The Kawasaki executives felt like the men pushed the envelope a bit too far and that the women kept it a bit too safe. It came down to a close call, but ultimately, the men's team, Team Arete, won the Kawasaki challenge.
Kyle called Brooke Burke-Charvet and Porsha Williams back to the boardroom for potential elimination, but as project manager of a team that missed the mark, Kyle herself ultimately got sent home.
With the women's team, Team Prima, down to only four members after a series of losses, Arnold decided to mix it up and create co-ed teams with Brooke and Laila joining Matt, Ricky, Jon and Boy George on Team Arete and Carson, Vince Neil and Chael Sonnen joining Lisa Leslie and Porsha on Team Prima.
The next challenge this week featured a candy-making and fundraising challenge from See's Candy, with special guest Warren Buffet as judge in the candy tasting portion of the challenge! The teams lined up their donors the day before their pop-up candy shops went up hoping to rake in big donations during their one-day pop-up.
Team Arete had Ricky Williams at the helm and figured with his big connections, they'd bring in equally big donations. Things started off slow for them, but after an $80,000 check came in, the money kept rolling from there.
The final totals were tallied in the boardroom. Team Arete pulled in $365,745 in donations, but Team Prima edged them out with $378,535. On top of that, Team Prima also won the tasting challenge with Warren Buffet - adding another $25,000 bonus to their total and securing their victory. As team captain of the winning team, Vince Neil's charity was the recipient of all the challenge's winnings, a whopping $769,000.
With a loss for Team Arete in the books, it was up to Ricky to decide who to call into the boardroom for potential elimination. Thankfully, due to his great team player, can-do attitude and fundraising efforts, Matt was safe from elimination. Ricky chose to bring Jon and Laila into the boardroom and ultimately, Arnold made the call to eliminate Jon.
We can't wait to see what happens next week as the playing field narrows and the teams grow smaller. In the meantime, you can learn more about Matt’s involvement with the Arthritis Foundation and support his fight for us on our website !
