Why 30 Million Americans Have a Reason to Celebrate
What do 30 million Americans have in common?
Pain. The kind that’s often invisible but makes moving, walking and enjoying daily life a challenge because of osteoarthritis (OA). But today, they also share something else — hope.
That’s because the Arthritis Foundation has announced a multi-year partnership with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare’s (GSK) Voltaren Arthritis Pain to improve the quality of life for people living with OA and provide virtual care and connection to the patient community.
GSK’s Voltaren Arthritis Pain, available starting May 13, 2020, is the first over-the-counter prescription strength NSAID gel for arthritis pain. Its cap has also been tested and approved to receive the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use commendation , meaning arthritis patients and experts have deemed it easier for arthritis patients and those with physical disabilities to open. Not only did Voltaren Arthritis Pain create a program in which they will donate the first $100,000 of product pre-order profits to the Arthritis Foundation, but for every donation made to the Arthritis Foundation between May 13 and May 31, Voltaren will match up to $100,000. Funds raised will support scientific research, advocacy efforts, virtual resources and community connections to support OA patients and their families.
“We’re dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with OA and joint pain and helping them feel the joy of movement,” said Jissan Cherian, marketing director for Voltaren. “With so many of us sheltering in place or practicing social distancing, it’s more important than ever for osteoarthritis patients to have the right resources and support during this difficult time. Our partnership with the Arthritis Foundation fuels our commitment to accelerate scientific discoveries to help patients living with OA reduce the pain that’s often invisible to others.”
