Community Leadership
Leadership volunteers offer their time, talents, and expertise in a variety of areas to ensure that the Arthritis Foundation reaches its annual mission and fundraising goals for the local market area.
Local Leadership Roles
The Board Chair leads an empowered arthritis community, partnering with local staff and fellow leadership board members to create and manage the market's strategic plan. The Chair identifies, cultivates and recruits high-impact volunteer leaders for key positions on the Leadership Board, standing committees and corporate chairs for event, ensuring volunteer leadership reflects the diversity in the communities served.
The Community Network Chair builds a network in the local community to help people with arthritis find their Yes! The Chair recruits and leads a committee of volunteers to manage key activities that support community growth across the market: Connect Group Facilitator support, arthritis community outreach and promotion of the Live Yes! INSIGHTS assessment.
This Event Chair makes a direct impact on the lives of people with arthritis by helping secure necessary funds to support science initiatives and mission delivery. Event/Fundraising Chairs work with volunteer leadership and event committees to achieve annual fundraising and community engagement goals for the local market in conjunction with the Local Leadership Board’s strategic financial plan.
Medical Chairs build greater awareness of the partnership between the healthcare community and the Arthritis Foundation to achieve common goals of improving lives and outcomes for patients with arthritis. The local Medical Chair builds connections within the medical community to educate HCPs on the value the Arthritis Foundation can provide their patients with arthritis.
JA Chairs connect and engage families impacted by juvenile arthritis and related childhood rheumatic diseases to provide life-changing resources, support and education. Working with JA Committee(s), JA Chairs ensure that families have access to resources designed specifically for the JA community, and that they are aware of educational and social opportunities and know they are not alone in their journey.
Advocacy Chairs serve as the voice of the arthritis community to influence state and federal legislation that fights barriers to health care, ensuring access to all. Advocacy Chairs work with the staff Advocacy team to identify opportunities to recruit, train and cultivate Advocates and Ambassadors across each state.
The Volunteer Engagement Chair champions the Arthritis Foundation volunteer experience. This Chair builds a diverse volunteer base to support annual plans and goals, provide connection between volunteers, and lead onboarding efforts to ensure that volunteers are engaged and have the resources necessary to be successful in their role and make an impact in the arthritis community.
The Young Adult/Young Professional Chair empowers young adults to build a local network, providing connection and positive impact, while helping young adults with arthritis live their best lives. This Chair leads outreach, recruitment and engagement for young adults (YA) with arthritis (18-35ish) and/or young professionals (YP) (25-35ish).
