Our Partnerships

In Arthritis Foundation partnerships, organizations work together. Sharing resources, they conduct research and find cures for a broad range of rheumatic diseases.

ACR

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR)

The Arthritis Foundation and ACR have a long-standing partnership concentrating on increased patient and professional education, government funding of arthritis research through NIAMS, access to appropriate healthcare from qualified pediatric and adult rheumatologists, and aiding access to effective medication and other treatment options.

CARRA

The Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA)

CARRA is an organization of pediatric rheumatologists committed to advancing the health and quality of life of children living with rheumatic disease. With financial support from the Arthritis Foundation, the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and others, CARRA's network of pediatric rheumatology research centers provides an accessible point of entry for patients and families across the United States and Canada to participate in research studies and trials of new therapies.

CDC

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The Arthritis Foundation and the CDC joined together to launch "A National Public Health Agenda for Osteoarthritis." This blueprint for action recommended reducing the burden of osteoarthritis (OA) using four intervention areas:

  • Self-management education
  • Physical activity
  • Injury prevention
  • Weight management

NIAMS

National Institutes for Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS)

The Arthritis Foundation played an integral part in lobbying for the creation of NIAMS and continues to advocate for its continued and increased funding from Congress every year. The Arthritis Foundation and NIAMS have partnered on many projects through the years, including a recent funding agreement, where the Arthritis Foundation has committed almost $500,000 to fund new genetic research that could revolutionize hot rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed and treated.

PR-COIN

Pediatric Rheumatology Care & Outcomes Improvement Network (PR-COIN)

PR-COIN is a quality improvement collaborative that develops and evaluates disease management strategies for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), lupus, and dermatomyositis to improve the care of children with rheumatic conditions and to help incorporate these strategies into clinical practice – assisting families in experiencing better care, now.
